Being Ecological

Why can’t there be an ecology for the rest of us? For those of us who don’t want to go out camping in the fresh air, but would rather pull the covers over our heads and listen to weird goth music all morning?

There are lots of things in our world that work according to some idea that wholes are less than their parts. For instance, in the USA, the tax code is such that if you are married, the two of you count as one and a half people. That means that when you are married you become three quarters of a person. There’s some kind of deep psychological truth to this. Being connected means there’s weirdly less of you because you are being open and less of your ego is in the way.

Somewhere, a bird is singing and clouds pass overhead. You stop reading this book and look around you.

You don’t have to be ecological. Because you are ecological.
