He had led his men undefeated for ten years, and together they had conquered Greece, Egypt, and Persia. Yet thought they had already achieved greatness, he urged them to see this next fight through to the end, for it was a matter of glory. He urged them on, saying, “You and I, gentlemen, have shared the labor and shared the danger, and the rewards are for us all.”
