When aspiring TV investigative journalist and self-proclaimed Elvis hater Ted Sherlock is sent to the small country town of Parkes to cover its famous Elvis music festival, he’s convinced both his career and love life are headed down the gurgler. Reporting on a town obsessed with sweaty sequined jumpsuits and greasy pompadours? Ted can’t imagine anything worse or more embarrassing.

But when he witnesses one Elvis impersonator shoot another in the middle of the festival, Ted realises he’s stumbled onto the scoop of a lifetime—and that this sleepy town hides more drama than he ever expected.

With his journalistic instincts reignited, Ted teams up with a band of eccentric locals and lovable oddballs to uncover the truth behind the mysterious shooting—while desperately trying to keep his own past under wraps. After rubbing the local police the wrong way and finding his rented van set ablaze, Ted soon learns that this quiet town has a darker side—and if he doesn’t solve the case quickly, he might be the next victim.

Tensions flare with rival reporters, a cranky rooster, and just about everyone Ted meets. As the street parade kicks off, Ted’s not just chasing a big story—he’s being chased himself, all while navigating the hilarious chaos of small-town life. Sometimes the best mysteries come from the most unexpected places.

The first book in the Elvis Town Series is filled with humour, quirky characters, music, and plenty of charm to make even the biggest cynic smile.
