John Samuel worked as a travel writer and restaurant critic in London for 10 years. He relocated with his family to his childhood home of Jersey to work on the communications team of the local government as a speech writer. Because this sort of civil service job can tend towards the mundane, Samuel turned to writing energetic and provocative fiction to exercise his creativity and intellect. WHAT I TELL YOU IN THE DARK, published by Duckworth (London) this past September and soon to be released from the Overlook Press (New York), is his first novel. Samuel currently lives with his wife and three children in Jersey.
