Cliff James

Of Bodies Changed is Cliff's debut novel. A Gothic romance about sexually liberated pagans, environmental warriors, fairy barmaids and a smattering of sadistic priests, the novel was inspired by his close encounter with the Church as a teenager. It took 14 years and 14 rejections from publishing houses before finally reaching publication. Cliff's now working on his second novel and compiling an anthology of the political essays, poems and articles that he's published over the past decade. After surviving a year as an Anglican monk, progressing into paganism and finally evolving into humanism, he's campaigned with the Gay and Lesbian Humanist Association against the privileges of the established Church. Cliff was the Editor of Brighton's LGBT newspaper, News Editor of the national gay magazine 3SIXTY, a regular contributor to GHQ magazine, and he has written extensively on social justice issues. He was awarded the Raman Selden Memorial Prize for English Literature at Sunderland University, has published short stories with Arcadia and performs poetry at live literature events. He now lives in Calderdale with his partner and two cats, where he explores the moors and concocts curious homebrews.
