Sandeep Tyagi

Sandeep Tyagi is an Indian author and entrepreneur who specialises in quantitative finance and investment strategies. He is best known for his book The Little Book of Big Gains (2024), which draws on his extensive experience in the financial sector.

A native of India, Tyagi studied computer engineering at IIT Delhi before earning an MBA in finance and international business from Columbia University (1993–1994). He later completed Wilmott's Certificate in Quantitative Finance (CQF) in 2011.

Tyagi started his career using data analytics to support decision-making for large organisations. In 2000, he founded Inductis, one of the first analytics outsourcing companies he ran for eight years before merging with EXL Service. He later founded Estee Holdings, a capital markets firm that uses quantitative methods and computer systems to make investment decisions. Under Tyagi's leadership, Estee developed innovative investment and brokerage products, packaging sophisticated algorithms into model portfolios accessible to retail investors.

Tyagi oversees US and emerging markets operations as Chairman and Managing Director of Estee Capital LLC. He focuses on machine learning and analytics in finance and healthcare. He also co-founded Yantri Labs Inc., a machine learning start-up tackling fraud detection and sentiment analysis challenges.

In interviews, Tyagi often talks about his approach to investing. "Balancing emotion with logic is key," he explains, adding that mental clarity and discipline are essential for long-term success.

The Little Book of Big Gains (2024) is a practical guide for investors of all levels.
