a single card can always be pulled at the end of a larger reading for additional clarification. If a card in a spread does not make sense, ask for further guidance and draw another card to enlarge upon the message of the first card.

Study with the Suit of Pentacles
Get a small bowl and several a few tablespoons of salt in it to represent the earth (natural, non-iodized salt such as sea salt or Himalaya salt is best). Select a card and stand it up in the bowl on the salt (if you use a plate, just place it on the salt.) Sit with it for a few minutes and see what impressions you receive from the images on the card. Place some of the salt on your tongue, to take in the energy of the card. You may choose to meditate further with the card, or simply leave it on your altar or desk for the day.

If you like, select a feather, athame or letter opener to keep on your table or altar with your cards. Before you select a card, hold your item in both hands and take three deep breaths. Hold the feather or athame to your third eye, and quiet your mind. Now choose a card at random from the suit of swords. Sit with it for a few minutes and see what impressions you receive from the images on the card. You may choose to meditate with the card, or simply leave it on your altar or desk for the day.

Fill a glass with water, sit and choose a card at random from the suit of cups. Lean the card against the cup and sit with it for a few minutes and see what impressions you receive from the images on the card. When you are done, drink the water, taking the energy and lessons of your card into you for the day.
